A LIFE MORE BEAUTIFUL [Presenting the following in thankfulness to my benefactor, owly.net, who has granted great latitude for over a year. I hope you will enjoy this piece.] There is a wrong-headed saying that goes: “What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.” It is as wrong as it is perverse. It is hurtful to those who have gone …

GUEST POST from Don: TECH with ATTITUDE!
Before we move on to Don’s post I would like wish him a happy retirement! He retired this week after a lifetime of hard work and productivity! Congratulations, Don! TECH with ATTITUDE! Truth be known, several people I know have devoted too much time to bad relationships. My guess? You know a lot of people like that, …

GUEST POST from Don: Black Drink
BLACK DRINK. MY non-influencer EXPERIENCE…WITH YAUPON TEA I read a story in early February about a drink American Indians of the Southeast Coastal Region enjoyed prior to Europeans coming to America. I was instantly fascinated. Further research revealed this product is still being produced and enjoyed. My wife easily falls asleep during the day but cannot …

GUEST POST from Don: Public Schools, part III
PUBLIC SCHOOLS part 2 So, the underlying issue has to do with TRUST. How far can we trust public schools to educate kids and prepare them for their futures? ANSWER: NOT AS FAR AS WE COULD THROW THEM. Nothing seems to be off-limits in public schools, except education. A middle school in Texas had students …

GUEST POST from Don: Public Schools, part II
PUBLIC SCHOOLS part 2 Last week we presented a few of the issues which are corruptions of the true purpose of public schools. We presented literally only a fraction of the issues plaguing public schools. Yet, merely decrying the stupidity does not get us to any solutions. Can it be fixed or improved? Many “solutions” …

GUEST POST from Don: Public Schools
PUBLIC SCHOOLS Is this what you want for YOUR kids? Warning! Public schools have FAILED. “When people show you who they are, believe them.” According to Phil Whitmer, …

GUEST POST from Don: 5-Star Reviews (and other lies…)
5-STAR Reviews (and other lies) I once worked for a business that rewarded its workers every time they were named in a 5-star Google review of the company. Dutifully, each employee would ask customers for a 5-star Google review and hand them their business card. Of course, the result was a lot of 5-star reviews for the …

GUEST POST from Don: Fractions Matter!
FRACTIONS MATTER Some of you know what ISO means. The initials stand for “The International Organization for Standardization.” ISO standardized the size, shape and use of thousands of things. You can blame them for the problems of distribution due to COVID. They are the group that standardized shipping containers (all the same size), which lowered costs associated with shipping …

GUEST POST from Don: Small Spoons
SMALL SPOONS I like small bites and small spoons. Of course, when I’m in a hurry I gulp my food, too. But when I want to ENJOY what I am doing…I…like…to…take…my…time. Sure, a hearty stew deserves a larger spoon, but I deserve a smaller one. I am worth the extra time to taste each bite …

GUEST POST from Don: Dumpster
DUMPSTER Recycling is a good idea. That being said, it is better to avoid buying things which cannot be recycled, like ___________ (you fill in the blank). I try to limit purchases, when possible, to items which genuinely WILL BE recycled. Aluminum is almost always possible to recycle. Glass does not always get recycled, even when they claim …
