One of the 4 tom turkeys that live in our woods and spend their days in our yard took a sudden interest in HoWie The Bus this morning. My husband recorded the video, and I adjusted the speed (Tom was taking his sweet old time!) and added the music. Music by Music for Makers

Who Needs Television?
We have a semi-tame pileated woodpecker that we call Johnny, and he flies down close to Pete, even coming to get him, screaming all the way, when the suet feeders are empty. (He even goes so far to bring wife and offspring every year!) He is hysterical. This is him at the suet feeder just …

VIDEO: Learning To Use My Camera Sunglasses

Here’s a recent Newsweek headline: “U.S. Facing Invasion of Giant Venomous Flying Spiders.”Reporters are trying to scare you into thinking there is an invasive spider (Joro) which can fly. They are lying (mostly) to you. The truth is far less frightening. There is nothing here to fear. Fear sells! Otherwise they wouldn’t make those movies or …

Wednesday Wonder – June 19, 2024 Edition
OK, Wednesday Wonder may not be a “thing” (yet?) but I was reading a wonderful article this morning that I HAD to share! I have not heard of this tradition before, nor have I heard of dogs being used in bee management. Plus I’m sure Don will be interested as well even though he probably …

Nature Photos – June 15, 2024
June 15 is Nature Photography Day, so I thought I would share some of my favorite pictures that we’ve taken. Pete took most of these photos, I put some of my own in there though…a couple were taken through windows from indoors but were cute enough I wanted to share. These were all taken within …
