HOARDING? Ageism is alive and well among some in America. I wrote some weeks ago that the younger generations hate old people. They not only create systems which are biased against old people, they are intentional and purposeful in placing BLAME on those Baby Boomers who had no choice when and to whom they were born. Blame for …

GUEST POST from Don – Planning for Single
PART 1: PLANNING FOR SINGLE: + If you’re young and considering a situationship you need to plan for what happens AFTER that. Sure, it is possible it will work out well (less than 30% of the time), but reality usually comes with a slap after situationships. Whether in 2 months or 16 months, something nasty …

GUEST POST from Don – Home Equity Agreement +
HOME EQUITY AGREEMENT + Risks and benefits. Sometimes we need money. Maybe it is for college tuition, other times it is for 3 dental crowns (that can add up to $8,000 these days). In any case, you may be looking for a way to NOT add anything to your credit card balance (that’s a good thing usually). …

GUEST POST from Don – WHAT?
WHAT? There are times when the news fails to pass the sniff test. There’s a fly in the soup somewhere. Deseret News reports: “11 survive ‘miraculous’ rescue following plane crash off Florida coast”By Emma Neff, Wed, May 13, 2026. What? They survived the rescue? I’m not sure that’s a bad thing. One would hope …. People posted this: “Man Says Fortune-Telling …

GUEST POST from DON – $$ Talk
THE $$ TALK My wife and I often talk about finances. We turn off all electronics and update each other; the budget, the balances, the buoyancy. I tell her what I want to do, she tells me what she dreams doing. Good or bad we must choose well. With our financial resources we only have …

GUEST POST from Don – Stupid Human Tricks
STUPID HUMAN TRICKS First, from the New York Times: “There’s a New Place to Store Greenhouse Gasses, in your beer.” Sure, it can be done, but it is meaningless. If 2 more people are added to the planet in 2026 that will wipe out the “savings.” Your beer will cost twice as much as well. Thanks, but no thanks! It …

GUEST POST from Don – Consumer Confidence
CONSUMER CONFIDENCE INDEX If you read the news sources OR talk with the average person you would IMAGINE that the economy is in shambles and that no one can afford a can of cat food. Neither of those things is true, of course. First, the inflation rate is actually VERY GOOD. Any inflation number below 3.21% is …

GUEST POST from Don – Silly Life-Hacks
SILLY LIFE-HACKS Influencers push influence. Here’s a “hack,” there’s a “hack.” Actually, most “hacks” are recycled ways of doing things from 70 years ago. What makes them “special” now is that they are tied with other concerns, like “how to de-clutter,” or “how to reduce the amount of plastic in the universe.” Trouble is, these things seldom do …

GUEST POST from Don – Dietary Guidelines +
DIETARY GUIDELINES + Some have to watch their diets because of diabetes, heart issues, or cancer. You, too? Plus, I’m trying to shed two pounds in 2026. That’s easy, by the way. I eat less bread and potatoes. I add fruits and vegetables. I lost 3 pounds over Christmas and New Years by just eating one meal a day plus coffee …

GUEST POST from Don – Sunk Cost Fallacy
To my readers:Hey! Last year I shared “Christmas on Blurry Mountain” and several indicated they would like to see more about Blurry Mountain. I am working on a prequel “The Unsettling” about the family which founded the farm on the mountain. I’ve gotten them from Wales to North Carolina. Am working on getting them to the mountains of Tennessee/North …
