TURN OFF the CLOUD + a few There are numerous reasons to abandon the cloud, push for elimination of AI features, and shut down data mining operations, (including things like Bitcoin “farms”). The best reason: Together these 3 things use more electricity than all of the electric vehicles. How can we conscientiously use these tools AND be in …

GUEST POST from Don: The I.R.A. Problem(s)
THE I.R.A. PROBLEM(S) I don’t know everything that I should … which causes me to suspect there are others who also don’t know. I could be wrong. But I can’t imagine how, then, it hurts to remind them. Here goes… An IRA, Keogh, 401k, or SIMPLE (or other similar) retirement plan is a very good idea which can turn …

Tuesday Truths – July 30, 2024 Edition
As always, these memes reflect topics and views I find interesting. They are not my typical fare; I will post on many subjects, in no particular order or form, aimed at no particular person(s) – actually not “aimed” at all, and will cross over into the political, societal, and historical arenas with a heavy dose …

GUEST POST from Don – Pompeii’s Survivors
POMPEII’s SURVIVORS Historians have found hundreds of records which detail those who survived the great disaster. No. None who stayed in Pompeii or nearby towns to experience the destruction in person survived, but some people who trusted their guts when the earthquakes and tremors began did survive. They took horses and carts, money and other valuable items. Or they …

Supernal Sunday – July 21, 2024 Edition: What in the WORLD?!?
Is there anything in this world that is of more importance than Mark 12: 30-31? What in this world gives us the right to believe that Matthew 5:22 doesn’t apply to us? Of everything that is under the sun, is there anything that should make us believe that God’s laws are for others but not …

GUEST POST from Don: Go Back
GO BACK According to C.S. Lewis (whom I blame for this post) there are times when the quickest way to one’s objective is to go backward. I’ve done it, so have you. I made a wrong turn. It won’t help to speed up because I’d only be going the wrong direction faster. And if you’ve ever lived …
