GO BACK According to C.S. Lewis (whom I blame for this post) there are times when the quickest way to one’s objective is to go backward. I’ve done it, so have you. I made a wrong turn. It won’t help to speed up because I’d only be going the wrong direction faster. And if you’ve ever lived …

GUEST POST from Don – July 14, 2024
FUN WITH THE PROBLEM OF FREE WILL Looking at Free Will is not just for scholars. Ordinary folk can enjoy it, since it affects them, too! BEING FREE TO CHOOSE Freedom is doing what you want when you want. It is also having the freedom to do those things you don’t want. If you had a choice today: “Eat …

GUEST POST from Don: Earwigs & Silverfish
EARWIGS AND SILVERFISH They are not closely related. Some reporters will tell you that neither are a big problem, but both can be. Let’s start in alphabetical order. EARWIGS They don’t wear wigs and I’ve never heard of one getting into someone’s ear. These are those funny insects with pincers for tails. You may have already noticed that some …

GUEST POST from Don: Cash Value
CASH VALUE I do not like being continually deadly serious; I prefer some levitation (its a joke). I previously mentioned the following important information in another context. Here I will expand on it. I think it is a great idea to have a life insurance policy. Yet some insurance products come with avoidable risks. Certain Federal and State …

GUEST POST from Don: A Revolutionary Tale
A REVOLUTIONARY TALE [This is a “story.” Understand that not all reported within is strictly historical, although most can be inferred from historical records.] War is rarely justified when one inspects the results. Financially a loser. War is incredibly expensive. Loss of life is a loser. You can’t have war without killing lots of people (soldiers are people, too, you …

GUEST POST from Don – JORO: Giant “Flying” Spiders
JORO: GIANT “FLYING” SPIDERS!!! Here’s a recent Newsweek headline: “U.S. Facing Invasion of Giant Venomous Flying Spiders.”Reporters are trying to scare you into thinking there is an invasive spider (Joro) which can fly. They are lying (mostly) to you. The truth is far less frightening. There is nothing here to fear. Fear sells! Otherwise they wouldn’t make those movies or …

It’s just one way climate change is gendered”Published: May 29, 2024 8:28pm EDT in The CONVERSATION https://theconversation.com/women-are-14-times-more-likely-to-die-in-a-climate-disaster-than-men-its-just-one-way-climate-change-is-gendered-230295 The purpose of a headline is two-fold. It is to grab your attention AND frame the story. Anyone who has …

GUEST POST from Don – The Search
The SEARCH My wife and I have not walked away from a church before. Sure, every time we moved to a new city we had no choice. However, we never had to develop an “exit strategy.” After the decision to leave, as painful as we knew it would be, we called the pastor and calmly expressed our …

Dismissing God
Rich Maffeo@rmaffeo@rcsocial.net (used with permission from the author) I routinely speak with people who like to dismiss the idea of God. And if He exists, they say, they find fault with Him at nearly every level – from the existence of evil in the world, to the baby who dies of cancer. Let me repeat …

GUEST POST from Don – Earth 2.0?
EARTH 2.0?? On May 24, 2024 CNN Space + Science reported that another “potentially habitable” planet was found a mere 40 light years away (a hop, a skip, and a jump). Gliese 12b “orbits a cool red dwarf star situated in the constellation Pisces“ scientists say. It is “potentially habitable,” they say. This is funny. Earth 1.0 …
