When we moved to this area the internet options were – ARE – limited to satellite or cellular. There isn’t even DSL – there aren’t even land line phone lines. Since we have woods all around us, and since it is expensive and offers limited bandwidth, satellite wasn’t an option for us. So cellular it was! We were with the FMCA unlimited plan for the first few years, and they switched us between all 4 (at the time) companies during that time. The results were the same with 3 of them.

This is the speed we had most of the those years. And, of course, upload was much slower – rarely reached a single mbps. The story was the same with AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon.
About a year ago we got a Surecell antenna and hooked it up. WOW! “Just like downtown” as my dad used to say! We could feel the wind in our hair!
This year we decided to bite the bullet and strike out on our own rather than renewing our contract with the FMCA. Above I mentioned that we’d had better service from one of the companies they’d used, and that was T-Mobile. So we went to their store, met with a WONDERFUL salesman there, and got the scoop: With Pete’s military discount we could get our home internet, plus service on both of our cell phones plus one (we get internet for one of Pete’s sons also), and with the special they were running we all got new phones – nearly $500 worth – for free. The cost is triple what we were paying FMCA ($60/mo.) for the same service, BUT…

So is it worth the extra money? ABSOLUTELY! We are THRILLED! I can upload videos in minutes instead of hours…and most web pages load before I can start counting the seconds. Since we stream our TV service (Roku), buffering is now very rare instead of a constant occurrence. It is ALL GREAT!
