My Own Little Corner

Everybody needs their special space I think. Somewhere to sit when you want to just read a book or check your email or talk on the phone. Since we bought this motorhome 3 years ago I haven’t really had one. I do spend a lot of time propped up on pillows on the bed, but I don’t consider that my space – that’s different. That’s where I go when I can’t do anything else.

I won’t go into all of the places I’ve tried to make into my space, but last week I created one that I love.

Pete and I took down the table from the dinette – typical dinette in most motorhomes – leaving the 2 bench seats, and I made a spot for my 2 parrots at the window, which they love, and tucked all of their supplies underneath. Then we went to the reStore to find, well, I wasn’t sure yet. I figured I’d know it when I saw it, but I needed a place to sit at my computer, where I could put my feet up while I sat there, and that had storage. Because living in a motorhome one always needs more storage!

Though I wouldn’t have considered the piece we chose, Pete saw it in HIS vision for my space, and I decided to trust him.

Now I have a corner that meets all of my requirements, and is cozy besides. I can sit on one bench with my poi boys right next to me, and enjoy the views out the windows. I can put my feet up on the opposite bench, and work at my laptop or simply watch videos on it. Or I can grab one of my ukes and make some music. There is space for me to put a beverage, and of course my Maisie gurl, who is always near me, found her own spot nearby. Plus I’m only a few steps from the coffeepot!
