Though it’s been official for less than a decade, National Purebred Dog Day continues to grow in importance! As I have learned more and more about form and function for which these dogs are bred I have become more and more fascinated! It is no secret that I am a dog fanatic. And I believe 100% that every dog has value…but some dogs are actually BRED to have certain values and uses for tasks and more, that are absolutely amazing!

Thanks for this holiday!! It is such a delightful one for me to put on the calendar. I had forgotten that you and I both had a parent with the same birthday. After reading it here, I remembered you mentioning your mom last year. Last year I thought “what are the odds??” But, completely forgot about it until reading it again this year.
Your Links are so fun. Thank you for attaching them. It is so encouraging after thinking about lost loved ones ??That is such a fun new tradition I will add each year.
All my current pets are mixed breed rescues. But, my now-deceased former show dog gave us such funny memories.
Wish I could show you pictures of my afghan hound, from many years ago. She was such a beauty. And her personality was so low-maintenance (other than constantly stealing food off my counter, out of purse, and out of cabinets, etc…..). I could never leave the kitchen while prepping food because she was eye-level with the counter. She could grab and go before I had a chance to realize what was going on…..
….. I had a friend who had 2 Afghans. One of hers would get food off the TOP of the refrigerator. Afghan Hounds were tall enough when they stood on their hind legs, but thankfully mine never learned that trick.

Oh, E I just LOVE this, thank you so much for sharing about your afghan hound…she sounds like a very funny dog. (I’m kinda strange like that, I get a kick out of dogs being naughty!) I wish you could show me a picture too! I have had mostly mixed breed rescues, I did have one purebred dog (Miniature American Eskimo Obi), our relationship ended tragically however…and another one (Doberman Pinscher Chandler) was an absolute delight and amazingly wonderful! I’ve also had a couple of miniature pinschers that were so much fun! But one of my favorite things is seeing purpose-bred dogs do what they were bred to do, and doing it well :). And YES I had forgotten about the birthday thing too!!! Another connection we have ?

Love hearing about your current and past dogs. Your two current babies are so incredibly smart, helpful, and precious. It is always a joy to see them. It is especially wonderful to know that Chuy is alright now. To God be the glory!! You had quite the week last week.
The two you share about here sound wonderful as well, although the tragic ending is terrible.
