Thursday Theme – August 31, 2023 Edition: Marriage

Today being our wedding anniversary, today’s theme is a no brainer. First, I will share with you the day that we are celebrating: our wedding day…

We have relied heavily on the wisdom, advice, and commands of Scripture throughout our marriage, as God is as much a part of it as we are. These are some general verses that, looking back, have been instrumental in our relationship…

I often say that laughter is our glue. Pete and I always have a good time together, and make each other laugh many times every day. Making your beloved laugh is a wonderful feeling, and something we can do nearly anytime and anywhere! Though the best laughs happen spontaneously, here are a few jokes to cover the “humor” part of today’s theme – and our marriage!

“When I married Donna, I could get both hands around her waist,” said my husband’s grandfather. Pointing at his full-figured wife, he boasted, “Now look how much I got. That’s what I call an investment!”

On the first day of our marriage retreat, the instructor talked about the importance of knowing what matters to each other.”For example,” he began, pointing to my husband, David, “do you know your wife’s favorite flower?” David answered, “Pillsbury All Purpose.”

My cell phone quit as I tried to let my wife know that I was caught in freeway gridlock and would be late for our anniversary dinner. I wrote a message on my laptop asking other motorists to call her, printed it on a portable inkjet and taped it to my rear windshield. When I finally arrived home, my wife gave me the longest kiss ever. “I really think you love me,” she said. “At least 70 people called and told me so.”

And finally, to close out our anniversary which will be ending soon, here are a few photos taken over the years, in more or less chronological order.

  1. Awww, happy anniversary to you both!
We’re going strong, 43 years and counting for the exact same
reason. Put God first in your relationship and it will survive anything!

  2. 🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂 Your pictures are so lovely. Such a precious story of putting God first in marriage. Happy belated anniversary and God bless you both in the years to come.

    1. Thank you so much, my friend! And stay safe down there, IDK if you have been in the red zones but now another one is coming? Anyway – thinking of your and praying through all your weather woes (even as we both know Who controls it all)!
