Supernal Sunday – April 14, 2024 Edition: What Does God Want For Me?

As always, we need to use these verses as a starting point, looking each of them up so that we get a more complete picture of what the Word is telling us. It’s all about context.

Rest from burdens

A sinless life

Don't you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can't you see that His kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? Romans 2:4
For you are God's masterpiece, created in Christ Jesus, to do good works which God prepared in advance for you to do. Ephesians 2:10

Fulfillment of purpose

Fullness of life

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:10
For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of sonship. And by Him we cry, "Abba, Father." Romans 8:15

Sonship with Abba, Father

Rights as children

Yet to all who did receive Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God. John 1:12
"For I have no pleasure in the death of anyone who dies," declares the Lord God. "Therefore, repent and live." Ezekiel 18:32

Life without death

Freedom from sin

So now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because you belong to Him the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed you from the power of sin that leads to death. Romans 8:12 (NLT)
Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in my will never die. Do you believe this?" John 11:25-26 NRSV

Living without dying

Complete joy

I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. John 15:11
"I do not pray for these alone but also for those who will believe in Me through their word; that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that you sent Me." John 17:20, 21

Unity with others

A home with God Himself

I heard a loud shoult from the throne saying, "Look, the home of God is now among men, and he will live with them and they will be His people; yest, God Himself will be among them. He will wipe away all tears from their eyes and there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying, nor pain. All of that has gone forever." Revelation 21:3,4
"Being saved is not some sort of penalty that you pay to get to heaven. When I invite you to come to Jesus, I'm not inviting you to a funeral; I'm inviting you to a feast." ~ Adrian Rogers

    1. It was amazing to me how almost all of my searches as I was looking up Scriptures changed my search term to “what does God want FROM me”!
