Let’s Talk About Yesterday

Fridays are our day together, Pete and I used to go out shopping and get an AYCE fish dinner on Fridays after work (since it coincided with pay day!). But now we’re retired and though we can – and do – shop whenever the mood strikes, Friday has remained our day together, and we still go out for fish dinners on Fridays even if we don’t shop.

Yesterday, being Friday, were going out for fish and this week Casey asked if we could all go together. Of course we jumped at that! The little 12-table restaurant where we go is very popular, and each table only has 4 seats, so Pete sat with Leelan and Lyra, and I sat with Bill and Casey and little Luna. The place was packed, as always, and the waitresses were running themselves ragged, as always, plus the 2 tables were a good distance apart, so we didn’t really do any visiting back and forth. This is why you won’t see photos of Pete or the older grands. (But you see lots of pictures of them at other times, so it’s all good, right?) Anyway, here is a slide show of the happenings at our table yesterday.

As you can see we had a great time, and I got some very rare one-on-one time with Luna too!

Now I had slept 10 hours the night before, not getting up until 12:30(!). And we ate fairly early and left the restaurant by 6:30, then I made the 20-minute drive home. When we were almost there I got so sleepy, it was as if I had been drugged. It hit me like a ton of bricks during that last couple of miles and was hard to fight. (This wasn’t a post carb blood sugar drop, I’ve had plenty of those and this wasn’t it.) Once we got home I sat on the bed so Maisie and I could change my clothes for bed. Pete brought me a cup of tea, as he does every evening, and I recall taking a couple of sips of it, and then waking up sometime after midnight…

Such a strange thing though, that I can’t explain…I was in a sitting position with the pillows packed around me, as I usually sit when I’m on the bed, and was totally, completely, 100% pain-free. I haven’t experienced that in…well, I don’t know how long! Pain is just part of life for me so this was startling and exciting. I sat there without moving a muscle for an hour and a half. I didn’t want it to end. But of course eventually I had to move and of course everything went back to normal as soon as I did. For that hour and a half, though, it was bliss…a blessing beyond what I can describe. I talked to God the whole time, and watched the Christian a cappella music videos that Pete left playing on the TV. It was a vacation from reality and it was beyond words awesome!

So that was my Friday. And why I didn’t put up the Friday Funnies, which I’d planned to do when we got home after supper. Hope yours was wonderful too!

  1. That’s great mom!! I’m so glad we got to see each other and even more glad that you got some pain free time!! I’m praying that it happens even more as your new supplements kick in!! I wonder if they attributed to your pain free moment.

    1. That would be great wouldn’t it! Other than that 90 minutes I haven’t noticed a lot of improvement but they say it can take a month to notice a difference…I’m hoping too!

    1. I can’t wait to be pain free there, but my biggest thing I’m looking forward to is being able to sing, and sing worship and praise nonstop without getting tired or sounding like someone stepped on a cat’s tail LOL! The first time we went to a restaurant it felt so good! We’d forgotten having to not cook and clean up after a meal occasionally felt so good :). Love you!
