GOTCHA DAY! May 19, 2018

Since I’ve told Maisie’s story here before, and all over social media as well, I’ll just share a few pictures here today to commemorate the day my life was changed for the better in SO many ways! From a starving Mama dog on a short heavy chain in the sleet with 6 babies when she was discovered and rescued, to an 80# totally adored service dog and beloved companion…here are some before and after pictures for you to enjoy!

The first two photos were taken the night she (and her 6 puppies) were rescued. She was 37# and had been living without shelter in our Michigan winter, trying to keep her 6 puppies warm and dry, while tied to a short thick chain (which, by the way, had started embedding into her neck); food was scarce, and at this point she hadn’t eaten in several days.

Seven weeks later we picked her up from the rescue. She had been spayed, and was up to 54#. Still skinny (and small) but not skin and bones anymore! Didn’t she look proud to have her own forever family? This picture melts me every time I look at it!

These photos are from her time with us. The first picture was within the first week with us, you can see how tiny she was; we had no idea she wasn’t full-grown yet but you can tell by the second picture, in the same chair, that she still had plenty of growing to do, now that she was getting proper care and feeding! (She must have been bred on her first heat.)

Her life with us is happy and fun, and she gets (and gives!) more love than she’d ever known. I will never forget the story of her rescue, and will never forget the wonderful rescue who saved her. For me.

Maisie’s story was told HERE last year, if you want to see it.

  1. Oooooooooooooooooh!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ Just love this!!! Thank you for rescuing her and giving her a second chance at life. She needed you two and she is living a life she deserves after the cruel way she was treated before you rescued her. God bless you for showing love to His creations.

And, thank you for your Thursday Truths. Good ones!
