I routinely speak with people who like to dismiss the idea of God. And if He exists, they say, they find fault with Him at nearly every level – from the existence of evil in the world, to the baby who dies of cancer.
Let me repeat that: The created finds fault with the CREATOR – with THEIR Creator – because they don’t like what He does or does not do.
And I remember what the same Creator said to Job. You’ll find it in the 40th chapter of the book by his name. Here are verses two and verse eight. You can read the entire text in context if you wish:
“Will the faultfinder contend with the Almighty? . . . . 8 “Will you really annul My judgment? Will you condemn Me that you may be justified?” Did you get that? God confronts us with this well-deserved rebuke: “Will you condemn ME that YOU may be justified?”
Be careful, O puny man and woman, created by the very One with whom you contend. The God with whom you find fault demonstrated how much He loves you when He gave to you His very own Son – who willingly received the wrath YOUR sins deserve – so that YOU will not have to experience that wrath yourself. He did that because He loves you.
I’ll say that again: Because He loves you.
But remember also this: You are not God. You are not infallible. You are not all-knowing. And also, PLEASE remember this: God’s patience with His faultfinders is not limitless.
