(God speaking to Solomon)
And as for you, if you will walk before me, as David your father walked, with integrity of heart and uprightness, doing according to all that I have commanded you, and keeping my statutes and my rules, then I will establish your royal throne over Israel forever, as I promised David your father, saying, ‘You shall not lack a man on the throne of Israel.’
1Kings 9:4-5

Crosswalk – O Christmas Tree
Meet Him At The Manger – Mary: The Ultimate Trust
The Crosswalk reading was about Christmas trees, which is a contentious subject among some Christians. It didn’t seem like a devotional reading to me, much less leave its mark on my heart.
But the reading about Mary…we all know the story, we know how the angel visited her, and the rest of the story. But I never considered what Mary freely turned over to the Lord, in faith, when she told that angel that whatever God required of her, she would give. Whatever He asked of her, she would do. What an impact that had to make on her the rest of her life. Though I can imagine that this Child brought her great joy and love, sorrow was also part of the package…would I have that kind of trust if the Lord asked something similar of me?
