Thy Will Be Done is the theme for today. There are a whole lot of people putting a whole lot of time and effort and money into making the world – or their country or state or region – into what their vision of it is. Obviously these are all at odds with each other, but in the end which vision wins? Whose vision gets their way?

I could add to Dr. King’s quote “…nor create your own kingdom from your own vision…” God’s will be done.

Who spins their wheels continually in an attempt to make others understand, see, and accept their own will? Politically that seems to be the whole point anymore! And in the end…what did all of that effort accomplish? Jesus told us Heaven and earth will pass away,
but my words will not pass away. (Mt. 24:35)

Only one life, ’twill soon be past; Only what’s done for Christ will last.” excerpt from Only One Life by C.T. Studd

Those who are attempting to shape the world into their own idea of what it should be rather than seeking the will of God need to know…
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10:31

How do we know when we are striving for the world, seeking our own will – or when we’re working for the Kingdom, seeking God’s will.

The Word. When we’re familiar with the Word of God, we will be familiar with His will. And when we know His will, we can work toward the eternal kingdom that He has promised. Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth. 2Timothy 2:15

Finally, there is a very helpful article that asks some critical questions about if we’re striving for the world (our own will, temporal – will count for nothing) or the kingdom (God’s will, eternal – the only thing that will matter). You can find that article HERE.

I hope that these truths and my thoughts about them will not only be of help to you personally, but also understand the things that are going on in this world, and your response to them.
