Just to let you know I just repaired our fancy cassette tape player. $8 for parts and 2 hours of wanting to curse.
It may last a week. We still have several boxes of tapes (enough to last the rest of our lives and save us big money on music “membership” fees).
The drive bands had turned to black goo (still getting that out from under my nails).

Update: Plays fine, but replaced round bands with square … warbles. Ugh!
