A couple of weeks ago I tried to upload a video onto GabTV, and was surprised to see that I couldn’t, that it was down for maintenance. Rumors afoot of its demise, people talking about losing their past videos…I was bereft! And said so! Soon a dear friend got the straight scoop and told me that it wasn’t going away, it was undergoing change…
Previously GabTV was almost like a separate platform. To visit it, one had to leave the main site and go to a different one. Then log in with the GabTV account. And then share our videos at the main site, in our other Gab account. It was a pain but there’s a lot of good stuff I enjoy there (recipes, pets, animals, faith-based, and humor, mostly), so I did it. Plus I liked sharing my own videos there.
Today, Andrew (the owner of Gab) put out a video sharing about some of the changes and they are great!! Now everything is in one place, videos are posted right in the timeline with any other posts, no logging in elsewhere, or having 2 different accounts with different subscriptions…there are other benefits but I’m not an expert and still getting used to it myself…
This is a welcome change and, to be honest, one of the FEW changes on any of the platforms I’ve used that I liked right from the get-go! I make no secret that I love Gab and find it a welcome haven from what I see everywhere else. Yes, this is due to my own curation, because there are people from all walks of life, with all sorts of ideas and passions that find their outlets there, but I don’t share them all…so my own feed is spent with those who inspire or enlighten or entertain or support or just give me the warm fuzzies – which is THE best way to spend my online time. (After all, we all find exactly what we are looking for, but that is true anywhere on the internet!)
