Feb 2, 2024 – GOLD MINE!!! The eBird site lists each state, lists how many species of wild birds, AND you can click on the state to see what those species are, THEN you can click on each bird to see photos and more information – WOW! Birds By Region, from eBirds

Feb 3, 2024 – We usually buy a seed mix, or a couple of them, and let the birds choose what they want. In the winter we also add corn for extra fat and calories. But if we were trying to attract certain bird species I would probably have to pay more attention to this chart; I’m keeping anyway because it has great information!

Feb 4, 2024 – Love webcams? ME TOO! You can get your fill of wild bird watching at the Cornell Labs All About Birds webcams! Great opportunity to not only watch them at the feeders, but living their best life!
(Pete and I have a special place in our hearts for pileated woodpeckers here…remind me to tell you about Johnny sometime…)

Feb 5, 2024 – So many wild birds love suet blocks, and they’re great for them too, especially in the winter. But they can be pricey. But we can make our own!

Feb 7, 2024 – I confess, our bird-feeding has been more hit and miss than anything. We have several different kinds of feeders and buy a couple of different kinds of foods – mostly mixes, load ’em up, and hope for the best. Feb 9, 2024 – We love our backyard birds, and I have to admit that my favorites are the wild turkeys. They are pretty funny to watch, and have a more sophisticated social structure than I had ever thought! There is a lot of information about the topic online, and we’ve found that they’ll eat just about anything – we love keeping them around in the summer for tick control! – Supplementary Feeding Helps Winter Wild Turkeys talks about one man’s successful program!

Feb 10, 2024 – I am not a crafty person, though I’ve always wished I was…and today, especially! I am going to look through these Creative Bird Feeder tutorials and find some fun ones to make with the grands, they are SO CLEVER, so beautiful, and such amazing yard decorations in addition to their usefulness!
