Souls Harbor is a southern gospel ministry that is near to our hearts (and also the driving force behind Harbor Radio, our favorite southern gospel music station). Following are excerpts from a letting I received from David Brown this morning:
Hello friends, as you may have already heard, on Sunday, June 9, 2024, after a wonderful morning service in Monroe, Michigan, we were driving on M-50 and another vehicle pulled out of a side road and hit us. Thankfully, no one was injured. After recent conversations with the insurance company, we have learned that our van is being “totaled”. I guess they do not see the value that we see in a 2006 Chevy Conversion van with 191,000 miles. We loved that van and it fit our family/ ministry needs perfectly. For the last 5 1/2 years it took us from Michigan to Florida and back multiple times for services; from Michigan to California and back (only once and that was enough); up and down the State of Michigan many many many times, and so many places in between.
As of today, we have no ministry vehicle and after two weeks of searching, there does not appear to be anything even within our budget. We were not going to allow Satan a victory though. So, this past weekend we loaded up as much as we could out of the trailer into two vehicles, and drove the 5 plus hour round trip for our service. Three people in each vehicle. We made it and will continue this until God provides otherwise. To be honest, after 33 years of ministry, this was the first time I remember taking two cars and not being able to take everything.
The prayer need, obviously, is a replacement ministry vehicle. We are asking if you will join with us in prayer for God’s direction.
We have been traveling for 33 years, we have always traveled on a love offering basis, and that will not change. That being said, we do not have excess funds above and beyond our ministry expenses to cover the $10-15,000 or a commitment for a monthly payment, especially with the interest rates being what they are.
We know God will work things out in His time, but we could use your prayers.
I’ve told Joy since this happened, I am not worried about this. To be completely honest though, I do WORRY, I am human. But we serve a God who can do anything. We are excited to sit back and watch Him work, its just the patience part that is difficult.
Thank you friends for the love and support that you have shown our family. We appreciate you all. God bless, David (and all of Souls Harbor – Ron, Charlene, Joy, Ronnie & Troy)
