Today I am deleting my Snapchat account. That also includes Bitmoji, which I’ve had fun with for a long time. In fact, I’ve had fun with Snapchat…
I’ve given up Snapchat before. Once they determined that I had to claim an astrological sign – no way to avoid it – I left. There are numerous Biblical admonitions against astrology* and I stay away from it. I want nothing to do with anything that God abhors, or that would give a toehold to evil in my life. Yes, I take my Savior’s blood that seriously.
Then I decided I could set all that aside because Pete hadn’t been under the same conviction (yet) and was receiving a lot of pictures from Casey and the grands that I was missing out on. So I “made a deal with the devil” and went back…and have never felt good about it. But hey, I was getting pictures…and bitmoji was pretty fun too.
Recently AI has been in all of the news and I have read about it, and read discussions of it, and pros and cons and what it’s all about, and determined that I wanted nothing to do with it – also because of my life choice to stand with God and honor Jesus in all things, and deep in my spirit there has never been anything I have learned or experienced with AI** that seemed right with my knowledge of Scripture.
Is there anything in this world that I would allow in my life that would intentionally turn me from my Father? That would be at war in my spirit with His Word? That I would choose over and above my life – here, and eternally – with my beloved Jesus???
The answer to that is no. If I don’t get the pictures of my family in other ways, that’s how it will have to be. If I can’t make fun bitmojis I will have to use my own words. Do I really need icons of myself anyway? Why would I keep something in my life just so I can send icons of myself to people?
Yes, AI is in other social platforms I’m using. I am not forced, however, to use it at this point. If I have to make a choice again, however – and I’m certain I will – I will make the same one.
Pete and I have discussed this. AI is spreading quickly. We don’t like it – or trust anything about it – or want it in our lives. How far are we willing to go? We are prepared to give up the internet altogether – and all electronics if need be. Yes, we feel that strongly about it.
But for now – for today – we making the first of these choices.
NOTE that I rely #1 on God’s own Word to determine my choices and steps; I provide references from Open Bible in my posts, typically, because it does a good job of listing verses on a given topic that would take me a LONG time to do, and offers my readers a jumping-off point for their own studies. These are not an exhaustive list, nor my only source.
*often mentioned together with sorcerers, mediums, magicians, and others as an abomination (see https://www.openbible.info/topics/astrology for some examples)

Today’s Lazaroo – food for thought on topic:
“I will harden his heart so that he will not let the people go. Then say to Pharaoh, ‘This is what the Lord says: Israel is my firstborn son, and I told you, “Let my son go, so he may worship me.” But you refused to let him go; so I will kill your firstborn son.’”
(Exodus 4:21-23)
To us, this seems unjust, Jesus
But no!
You are Just!
This side of heaven, we don’t have the ability to grasp
the mind-bogglingly vast number of factors
that inform Your righteous actions.
VERY appropriate!! (And when did Lazaroo slip out of my life???)
Oooooooooooooooh! Such a good post today. I am not on Snapchat so I didn’t realize they made people do that. Good for you taking a stand ! We know we will have to make choices to stand for truth. our time on earth is short but eternity with Jesus is forever.
I think there are going to be more and more breakups for believers in the future. But we already have the answers, have read the back of the Book, and know Who wins! I love your comments and thoughts, my friend, thank you!
